The Dragon Ethos

The Black Dragon Martial Arts Academy is a multi-style mixed martial arts club—a non-political and non-profit organisation—run by a group of like-minded instructors graded to a very high standard. Between us we have over 200 years of experience in martial arts. Our disciplines include Hap Ki Do, Tai Chi, Ju Jitsu, Hand to Hand Combat, Karate and Reiki.

Black Dragon members train the way they please, concentrating on martial arts traditions of all types whilst keeping an open mind. We don't care too much for politics, political views, rankings or personalities. What matters most is the time spent in dedicated training, spirit, effective techniques and the joy of friendship.

Our Approach to Self Defence

Our aim is to promote self defence for any person 16 years and above, including self-defence courses for women. We believe that in today's society, with the dangers that all of us face, people should at least know the basics to defend themselves.

Our teaching style is tailored toward the physical ability of each student, and classes are held in a relaxed and friendly environment. All martial artists are welcome.

When and Where We Meet

We train at the Romiley Liberal Club on Mondays from 20:00 to 21:30. All martial artists welcome. Participants must be 16 years or over.

Black Dragon Scotland

The Black Dragon Martial Arts Academy also has a presence in Scotland. Our Scottish branch shares the same ethos and approach to martial arts training, welcoming students of all backgrounds and experience levels.

Ged Kennerk's Classes

We are pleased to welcome Ged Kennerk into the Black Dragon family. Ged's dojo is situated in the Hempshaw Business Park, 351 Hempshaw Lane, Stockport, SK1 4NB.

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm. Mixed classes for sixteen years and older are on Saturdays at 10am. Induction drop-in classes are also available on Saturdays—just turn up in loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. Ged also conducts classes on a one-to-one basis.
